How your support makes a difference

We work with an average of about 60 families per year comprising around 80 adults and 100 children. Our case studies show that the whole family benefits from attending the day centre at the Family Haven. Here is a testimonial from one of our parents who attends the Family Haven.

I have been coming to the Family Haven for over 2 years now. From the very first day we were treated like a family which made us feel so welcome and comfortable. It gave me somewhere where I could have support, time to myself and adult interaction. Many times I have had troubles with my personal life and I’d always look forward to coming here to speak to someone for advice and support. Whilst being here I enjoy the cooking/healthy eating sessions as it helps with healthy meal ideas with my children at home.

During the pandemic, we were supported massively from food parcels every week to nappies, wipes, and gifts for not only the children but myself too and I honestly don’t know what I would have done without the Family Haven. My children’s double pram broke and the Family Haven lent me a double pram to ensure we could still get out and I could still go food shopping.

At Christmas, the children have a visit from Santa, which is amazing as Santa visits can be very expensive. We receive gifts as a family too which we are so grateful for.

We also go on day trips out and we very lucky to go to the beach, which was my son’s first time going to the seaside. We have also been to Roves farm which my children loved! We have very luckily received vouchers for a local supermarket which helped me massively with food shopping. My freezer broke which caused massive stress for me, so the Family Haven worked hard to help me. They managed to apply for a grant so I could have a freezer. They sat down with me and helped me choose the best one for my family and ordered it. I love coming here and so do my children, they talk about the staff all the time at home. No matter how old my children get, The Family Haven will always be our family.
