Pair of dedicated dieters from Quedgeley are planning to shed stones to raise money for charity.
Alyson Ford and Robert Poole want to lose 75lbs - nearly 5 1/2 stones between them in three months to raise cash for The Family Haven. Alyson 27, and Robert 45 who both work at Gloucester based Ecclesiastical Insurance, have been enduring Wednesday weigh-ins at work to keep track of their progress. So far they have raised more than £300 and their bosses say they will also match the total raised. Alyson said: " I'm really positive about the weight loss because we're helping ourselves and helping a fantastic local charity at the same time. We're losing weight sensibly too, eating less and exercising more. Giving up big lunches in our staff canteen has been difficult, but we're sticking to it. "We've also both got holidays planned after our fundraising so we have a big incentive to work towards!" Robert said: " Losing weight is always a difficult thing to motivate yourself to do, but because The Family Haven is relying on us we are determined to be successful. And of course in the long run we're getting a lot out of this too. " By the time our holidays come around, we will really deserve a break". Claire McGrath from the Family Haven said: " We are so grateful to Alyson and Robert for their efforts. Their support is greatly appreciated and will help us to keep families away from abuse, poverty, exclusion and isolation.
Update: Robert Poole and Alyson Ford pictured above raised over £300.00 losing almost 5 stone between them.
